LPF advocacy priorities include soaring US military budgets, conflicts around the globe, gun violence, our militarized foreign policy, world hunger, and human rights. Our advocacy updates keep you current on key issues and what your elected officials can do about them. Use our advocacy resources to be effective in your education and advocacy efforts.
Lutheran Peace Fellowship’s support for advocacy is rooted in God’s biblical call:
“Blessed are the peace-makers: for they shall be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
“Pursue peace with everyone.” (Hebrews 12:14)
“Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of the destitute.” (Proverbs 31:8)
For a brief history of LPF’s advocacy, and how it relates to education and training efforts see Highlights of LPF 1994-Present. This timeline also shows how “doing the things that make for peace” has focused on peaceful resolution of conflicts, international development, human rights, and nonviolent resistance to war.
